I'd like one of those seats.
Nice to see good weather bringing everyone out for a change ... this place often looks too cold and cloudy.
I just saw miss Marple walk by.
I love those seats. Nice to sit there looking out to sea without getting burned or blown about.
Good to see summer weather here ... it often looks so bleak.
A sunny afternoon at Dahme.
I think they're a great design. :)
Mira Bilis.... I'm reading an interesting book, Lucky Girl Goodbye, written by Renate Greenshields. I've only got a little way in but she's been ill and gets taken to Langeoog, Germany, to convalesce. On page 10 it says" Numerous photographs showed the happy party in large wicker chairs, whose backs ended in a roof above so as to provide shelter from both sun and wind." That was in 1930. Obviously they're still popular today.
I so agree MD. :D
I would be happy to sit in/on one of these seats, just looking out to sea with no sunburn to worry about, and no draught on the back of my neck! LOL
Sounds like me Trix ... I hate mixing with crowds ... if I can avoid them, I will. ;)
looks like seating for people who don't want to be seen in public...
Here's a closer view ... I think they're made of wicker ...
Or ufos!!!! LOL
MD...i haven't been out much this summer so i'm sure my super white body could light the way for airplanes...lol
Mira Bilis, the German's are certainly noted for it. I've not seen these seats before but I would certainly prefer them to lying in the sun. It's nice to go on the beach for the lovely fresh air. Personally I prefer to walk along the beach in the evening when all of the sunworshippers have gone. So Trix and N Q, I guess our paths would never cross. LOL
I suspect those may be more for families with kids, or the elderly. LOL, as a Brit who's witnessed Germans sunbathing first hand, they're notorious for hogging all the best spaces and laying in direct sunlight for hours until they turn a nice shade of boiled lobster. ;D
i love sizzling in the sun...
Mira I understand the canopies over benches, but I rather recline on a beach then sit up which is why I find these benches so strange !
LOL! They are seats with canopies ... very popular on many European beaches. Everyone enjoys sunshine at the beach but if they're like me, they prefer to sit in the shade and enjoy the view, rather than frazzling into a piece of crispy bacon. ;D
