LOL!! I totally agree. Certainly where I lived, unguarded public monuments like this would draw yobs and ne'er do wells like moths to an (eternal) flame. ;)

Mira .... I was thinking about this place the other night. I tried to imagine what it would be like to have an eternal flame in Wolverhampton ...... apart from all the arson. LOL
It would either be extinguished or have an accelerant poured over it. Or people would be baking potatoes in it. Whatever .... it wouldn't be a peaceful scene like this one. It would need permanent police supervision. :D

It definitely looks better at night.

Looks depressing. With or without the eternal flame.

Mira ...... I only came here to read the earlier comments! LOL

Well done MD!! So this is the right place after all, apart from it not being the metro. The smoke is actually coming from a chimney on a roof behind the monument, if you look at 'animation of last snapshots.' I've tweaked the name. :)

I think this is the place ..... Dzerzhinsk. As you say ..... nothing to do with the metro.
Actually MD, the more I look at the camera info, the more I'm convinced this is not where it claims to be. Looking at that Wiki link you shared, Leninsky Prospekt doesn't seem to have anything to do with Dzerzhinsk (which is 400km from Moscow.) More research needed ...

Mira .... I tried to find out if it was an eternal flame but couldn't find mention of one. I really would like to know. Curiosity and all that. :D
Looks like the chimney smokes eternally. LOL
Mira Bilis11/07/15 23:33
Indeed MD ... maybe it's some kind of "eternal flame" ... it looks like there's a smoking chimney next to it as well.

Mira ... on the 14hrs ago still ..... the "fire" is visible.
Mira ...... thanks for bringing them to the fore. I often read page after page of old comments. It's the audience participation that often cracks me up.
And that does look like a fire...... but it's lasting so well.

Did someone light a fire in the square?
(I just noticed the old comments and had a good chuckle.)
