Mira Bilis, in my day it used to take 8 weeks for a court order. I'm glad you made the distinction between Romany and pikeys. I have respect for the Romany people. Their caravans are amazing and generally they are very nice people. Sometimes tempers get frayed because of the way they are spoken to and treated.

The police are always the ones who eventually evict the travellers ... but they have to get a court order first, which takes at least a couple of weeks .... plenty of time for the pikeys to trash a place.

Back in the UK,  I remember "travellers" (not to be confused with proper Romany Gypsies) showing up en masse with their caravans and tarmac trucks, invading town car parks.  When when they were finally evicted, they left behind stinking piles of garbage, empty gas cylinders and human faeces ... completely disgusting and unnecessary.

And as long as you leave the place tidy. Some councils are too grasping.

i was reading that in japan you can pitch a tent just about anywhere as long as you are polite and out of peoples way...

The UK are very mean with the parking in this area. It's a tourist area so there is no free parking. The nearest Lidl shop allows 90mins free parking for shoppers. There's nowhere here that would allow free camping overnight.

In France there are areas that allow "camping sauvage" but not in the UK. Meanies!!!

wallmart allows campers in their parking lots overnight for free...
