Pharr is named after it's founder "Henry Newton Pharr" He was a sugar cane planter and at one time owned 8,000 acres part of which the town of Pharr was built on. I'm from the Rio Grande Valley area where Pharr is located. The red pointer on the map is in the wrong location Pharr is south of Edinburg and east of McAllen. Just a little info :-)
