I still like that "menu."  ;)

LOL ... well all I know is, you drop the 's' and the link works from here.  ;-)

indigo 02/23/14 13:03

Mira-The extra s after http or https denotes an encrypted site.

MD 02/21/14 17:05

Mira Bilis, how odd because I copied and pasted too. I'd never bother to type it all out! :))

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJwv67vfogQ   <------  I now see why the link didn't work first time, it had an extra 's' after 'http'  ;-)

Mira Bilis 02/21/14 16:53

Indigo, I copy and pasted MD's link, as it didn't link automatically.  (You always know when a link will work because it will be high-lighted in a different colour and underlined.)  :-)

MD 02/21/14 13:09

Hi indigo, maybe you have to type the link yourself. Mira Bilis had a quick look at it. Or you could go to youtube and ask for Empire Builder Train. That's what I did. There are quite a few videos. The scenery is beautiful.

indigo 02/21/14 10:30

MD- your link was static and would do nothing...

Some things are worth sharing ... even if we haven't communicated in a while.  ;-)

I didn't even know where Spokane was, I googled it. Then I saw the length of the journey. Some of the views of the mountains are so beautiful.  As I said, I'd have liked more scenery but I found the whole thing very interesting. A few weeks ago I found a train journey on Youtube that was amazing. The camera was at the front of the train and the journey was brilliant. I forget now where  it was filmed but I could find it in my sent emails. I was so impressed with it that I emailed the link to my husband. That in itself is amazing because we've lived apart since 9 December 2009 and never phoned each other once! (Though there has been the odd text, and I mean ODD!)  :))

Good link MD ... I've bookmarked that to watch later but I had a quick look at it ... it gives you an idea of the terrain we have in WA, although I've never been as far northeast as Spokane yet.

Hi indigo. I love your trips down memory lane. For the first 13 years of my life I lived right near a railway line. In those days it was steam trains, much more interesting than diesel or electric. I found this on youtube, there are lots of them.

The first 12 minutes are taken up with telling you that this is the new, superimproved locomotive, maintenance checks and stocking the dining car etc. I would have preferred an older train, more scenic views and less of the chatty fella but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing.

I drink a Porter called Great Northern Porter made by Summit brewery. My first taste of it was on the Empire Builder train that ran from Chicago to Seattle when I was in my 20's. I was stationed in Spokane and took the train home when I would go on leave. I rode in the dome car and it was a beautiful senic trip. 2 days and 1 nite or 2 nites and 1 day, you had you choice. Those were the days...

LOL ... thanks MD!  :-)

I clicked the green thumb and was told the edit had already been processed. The system is coming on in leaps and bounds!   :))

Mira Bilis, when I first saw this cam in September, it was an unknown location. As you can see from my comment, I chose various drinks to "survey." I love the names of them.

Kind of an odd thing to focus a webcam on ... but I can't complain about the products ... they sound delicious.  ;-)
