many years ago, I was involved in listening to the "Song" of Earth Quakes, the generated Electrical noise as rock fractures under stress.  This might be an experiment to see if the Volcanoes  are more conductive through the molten Lava in the mountain, makes sense. It's angle is very low if being used

THis reminds me of the first Rover launch to Mars, a lot of folks were keen to listen and intercept the photos, including the sensational Russian find, and broad casted picture of what looked like a person sitting on a rock on mars
