I've just watched a programme about a Lancaster bomber that had an enforced landing in Sweden. It came down on 29th Ocober 1944 and I was amazed to see the remains of it still sitting where it landed. If it had come down in the Midlands, UK, where I used to live, within hours, every bit of it would have been removed and sold as scrap metal!
