I hope they get this camera fixed before the lake snows get going.

It looks like they have nice weather for it.
Silver Squirrel08/06/17 17:04
Summer carnival. I usually attended when we lived in the area.

Leave him for Karma to deal with.

Sigh.
Silver Squirrel06/05/17 21:52
Rain, I can tell from your comments that you, like me, are appalled of what is happening to our country. I know this is no proper forum for politics (and one has to be careful these days) but our Dumpster-fire of a President has done so much harm in so little time that I just have to wonder how long this can go on.
Silver Squirrel06/05/17 21:49
Thank you, Rain and Moose for your comments. As an American (and her husband) about to travel this fall to Europe, I'm thinking it might be wiser to try and disguise ourselves as Canadians. And yes, the French are the French. Agree! Italy we loved. Northern Italy, not so much. Venice - dirty and overcrowded. I have Scandanavian ancestry but have no idea how we will be received in Copenhagen. English is spoken virtually everywhere, to some degree, except for the very old. It's a shame that we Americans don't manage to be bi-lingual, for the most part. Oh, and my two years of Latin in high school helped with my English grammar and comprehension but I'd feel the fool if I tried to "speak" that language in Rome. Rain, thanks for the link.

America and the UK, two nations divided by a common language. I can certainly forgive Europe for thinking we are a joke now, with our current administration.

Hi Silver Squirrel...I am by no means a world traveller, but I did manage to hit 11 European airports in 10 days a couple of decades ago. What I learned about Europeans is based on how they dealt with English speakers. First was the UK. They kinda spoke English but had very little patience with our American accents. The French are the French and I will let it go at that. The Scandinavians spoke better English than I do. The Italians at least tried to communicate and the Germans just looked at us with disgust. I also learned that the phrase "Big Mac" is understood in every restaurant in the world and will get you a hamburger, even in Germany!

Silver Squirrel, I found you a beautiful Budapest Danube River view on Skyline
Perhaps your cruise boat will sail past this camera.

Silver Squirrel ..... travel as much as you can. I have so many lovely memories from my travels and living abroad. Having said that ..... I'm quite happily settled back in the UK. I think you would probably miss your good weather if you moved here. It's rained for the last 12 hours and no sign of stopping. That's why it's such a green and pleasant land. :D
Silver Squirrel04/30/17 22:37
Thanks for your kind words, MD. Indeed, I worked my entire adult life and am loving retirement (nearly 7 years). Husband (younger than me) still working full time, thereby allowiing us to afford European travel. I could be perfectly happy moving to England permanently.
MD04/30/17 22:33
Silver Squirrel ..... I think Stonehenge is a couple of hours drive away from Banbury.
I've heard very good things about Viking Cruises. I've always wanted to visit Budapest. I was going to say you are so lucky but luck has nothing to do with it. You've earned it. I'd be counting the days. :D
Silver Squirrel04/30/17 22:03
Hi MD. Our Danube river cruise is first and then we will work our way to England. Banbury (where we are meeting our friends) is not too far from Stonehenge, I think. I'll let you know how the cruise goes. It isn't until Thanksgiving week here in the States. Have never heard a bad word said about Viking Cruises but our friends who have actually been on one. It is Budapest to Nuremberg.
MD04/30/17 22:02
I always buy the dark maple syrup. Yummy on ice cream.
Silver Squirrel ..... you mentioned going to Stonehenge in the fall. Is that before or after your Rhine Cruise? I can't wait to hear how you get on with the cruise ....... I'm envious. :D
Silver Squirrel04/30/17 21:04
Deacon, I plan to check out the two-year old Murch Canopy Walk in Willoughby. MD, you would have enjoyed the church flea market -- you name it, you could probably find it there.
Silver Squirrel04/30/17 21:00
Overcast but warm, I think. At least the rain has stayed away.
