Thanks Homely for confirming what kind of bird that was, he's been sitting in that spot off and on this week, I was going to say maybe it's sheltered from the elements but I see that the cam is now iced over, so it must not be.

It was a peahen!

The crane may be gone, but now there is a bird in front of the camera. I think it is a pheasant! Took a screen shot and will go confirm...

The crane is gone and it looks like they added onto the one barn, maybe did the same to the end of the barn closest to us. The bales of hay are where they normally keep them, next to the road and in the area closest to the animals. I watched a truck deliver them last week, they use a small crane and a forklift to move them around.
N Q10/05/23 21:31
Phoenix, that was my first thought but that's way too big of a crane for hay. It's the same type of cranes that you see on construction sites, I sorta wonder if they're building something behind the barn.

NQ, maybe the crane is used for loading hay or some sort of Alpaca food into the barn??
N Q10/05/23 02:57
Sue of course I will but I have a feeling it'll be a short search with so few cams left :(

Hello N Q. Good to see you here. You'll start your Christmas 🎄 tree search in December?
N Q10/01/23 18:38
I wonder what they use the yellow crane for, this morning it was in the down position, now it's straight up.

Just had an alpaca get up close to the cam...how cute!

Hi Sue ... I was trying to find out if alpacas are grouchy and found that there are at least 4 alpaca farms not far from me:
There are wolves in Switzerland but no cougars or coyotes. Alpacas must have chased them off. :D

Such beautiful and smart animals. More and more sheep/cattle ranchers are using them as "guard dogs" these days. A much more natural and humane way to see off threats from wolves, cougars, coyotes, etc.

This link tells you that alpacas spit ... but only at each other:

All I can think of is a nice warm alpaca sweater and giving these sweet animals a pet on the head. Or maybe they are grouchy, like mules or camels.
Good to see this camera is still working. Many have ceased to exist.
