Hi Ed. I'm English/Scottish on my maternal grandfather's side of the family.  When I'm in the UK, my DNA kicks in and I'm quite at home.   I love a London!

Hi Silver Squirrel ...... what a great age to reach.  I'm laughing at the thought of those illustrated manuals. Seem to remember doing the same thing.  LOL I know a lady who is suffering with early onset dementia.  She was an avid reader but is now unable to read a book. She read...

Yes it is a pity about the younger generations not being readers.  My love of books came from Mom.  Weekly trips with her to the Library from a young age.  I read Dracula when I was 12.  Ann Frank.  All of the Nancy Drew books.  Sister too.   We couldn't wait to get our own libra...

LOLOL!!!!!! Kids today don't know what they're missing.  Our generation were able to entertain themselves.  From what I see these days even toddlers seem to have electronic games. Also,  I don't think reading is so popular now. I loved reading and so did my children .... they sti...

Hi MD and Stargzr.   Yes I could have been chums with both of you.  I was a cowgirl with a gun on each hip.  Most of my friends at the time were boys and it worked out well being a tomboy.  My sister was four years younger and sometimes I'd allow her to play with us.  I too remem...

Too true playing cowboys was serious!!!  I had cap guns too.  Our caps were in a roll  .... the paper was pink and you could see a dark spot where the explosive stuff was.  I think the smell was sulphur.  I also had "bombs"  - 2 pieces of metal that fit together with a cap insert...

Hah...that conjurs up quite a picture.  I had a cap gun and would buy boxes of caps anytime I had a nickel.  I can still smell whatever the heck was in those caps. :D Watching those old film clips did give me a laugh, too.  But we were deadly serious when we played "cowboys" comp...
