Yes, people sit on the bench all the time. It was designed so that people could wave to their friends or family on camera. The sign above the bench actually says 'Internet Bench' for that reason.

If you're talking about the lady in the Seattle living room, the cat is resting on the green pillowish thing next to her. Does it ever move from that place? I'm wondering, are all those knitted stuffed animals going to be donated to an orphanage or something?
