More strolling down memory lane........during the cold war years - early 50's -did you have any kind of "safety drill", like bomb protection? We routinely had drills where we had to hide under our desks.......like THAT would protect us !

That's unreal !! By the way, when I was cleaning out my mother's house in preparation to moving her out here, I found several ration books...even one for tiny me. Can you imagine the uproar if rationing were to be implemented today? The Western countries are SO spoiled.

So true. When the war finally ended, I was 4 yrs old. We had a big parade in our town and my friend and I marched in it. He was dressed as a little sailor boy and I was a Hawaiian girl - complete with grass skirt and black wig. I still have the pictures.
