I'm trying to work out what the white things are on the river, too big for birds.... too small for boats. Unless they are BIG birds!

Yes, Trix, I'm taking it as a good sign. Earlier one of the eggs looked as if it was bulging but nothing has come of it. If it was just the angle it was at, it fooled both Homely and me!
