Trix, I suppose the parents must be in the vicinity but you don't get to see anything of them. Also, they have no idea what time the chicks are gonna take the plunge. It's a tricky business being a kestrel, parent or chick! LOL

Trix, I've just looked back through the comments and the last chick flew away on the 16th of June after sitting in the opening for 7 minutes. It was 6.47am Lincoln time. Lizardmomma and Dobielvr...... I hope you are not missing the action.

Trix, all of them flew away in the day. The last one hivered and hovered all day until it got dark and then dropped back inside. The parents must have been watching because when the chick went back inside, both parents brought some food and then flew away. I slept in my armchair ...
