I had never even HEARD of it. Before I started taking the heavyweight drugs, my life was - being curled up in the foetal position in bed, trying to survive the immense pain crashing over and hitting into my body, like rogue waves. It was a hell of a time and I looked like death :...

Hello, MD......You're right, not much to look at.....but I spent a couple of years in my younger days working at this univ. and have VERY fond memories of both the school and the town.  Just lamenting both the lost cam and my lost youth !  :D

Well Moose ..... it's an idea ...... but if you're going to do that .... why bother cooking beans in the first place .... just open a can of refried beans.

Hello ladies... An excellent trick to thicken baked beans or bean soup or whatever is to throw a can of refried beans in.  It thickens it nicely without screwing everything up.

thats what I'm doing now :) yes...soak overnight...and I just read that you should cook then till done, about 45 minutes, and then proceed wirh the other things...put the beans in a pan of water the morning before, it doesn't hurt if they are soaked longer.

Ps ...... I just went to put beans on my grocery order and was surprised to see it says  "Never cook beans in a slow cooker unless pre-soaked for a minimum of 8 hours and boiled for 10 minutes."

Once the pressure cooker has done its work ...... if the beans have too much liquid ...  I suppose you could take the lid off the pressure cooker and simmer the beans to reduce the liquid a bit.

LOL...they did look delicious, didn't they!! using the pressure cooker, they say my sauce will be runny so I will have to find a way to thicken it.
