I've been to Italy many times and I've never heard of that. As N Q said, it looks like a private beach and they are quite expensive, which is why I'd have expected to see it used earlier, grab all the money they can.  I guess we'll never know.

MD, maybe they only open the beach when the temp gets above 25 degrees C.  ;D

N Q, even when the sea isn't warm enough for swimming you usually see people frying themselves. But this is the first time I've ever seen anyone. How odd.

This is a bar/restaurant with a beach & a pine tree woods in between the bar and the beach. It stated it's a safe place for families to have fun at and enjoy the beach which to me translates to a private beach that is probably too expensive for most families.
