Mira, thanks for the link. I'll definitely post pics. Sakurajima is ever present here. You'd be surprised by how close it is to the city... and how we barely pay attention until there is a massive eruption, a beautiful sunset glow eruption, or ash comes our way.

It was a fantastic, clear day. Surprise surprise. 17 eruptions in 24 hours, plus 6 that weren't in the official count for reasons I don't know. That's 315 eruptions so far this year. It's going gangbusters. I made photos from my home of the last few:) Tomorrow will be clear. Aft...

Mommy Dearest, seeing the car lights left to right makes sense since Japanese drive in the left. The road is actually 30-100 meters above the water so you might not see so much of the other side of the road. As to ejecta the size of houses. I wouldn't go that far though I'm sure...

Mira ... I stand corrected. :)) The kestrel cam could do with infra red light but we are lucky to be able to see it at all.

On their Twitter page it said that a chick hatched today. :) I suppose without the infra-red it would be pretty dark inside that nest box.

Mira ... it says the first chick was supposed to show its face around the 27th..... not that it has actually hatched. What a lovely cam. Shame about the infra red light.
