MD I've never heard of painting trees but it sounds like a good idea. Around here trees are wrapped in a heavy duty paper or mesh wire to keep them from being damaged by animals.

NQ ... it may be "friendly" paint to make them very noticeable. I've seen the same in France. It's only on the ones near the roadways, those in the park aren't treated.
