Kyle you're right, they chain up the dogs due to the wild life and due to the fact that almost every single person in these small Alaskan towns own a dog. With that many dogs they would be running in packs if left to run loose.

Carol this area normally has to many lights on in the evening to see the northern lights, plus this cam goes to black/white once it gets dark here so it would be difficult to see the northen lights here. If a cam is well lit enough that you can see color at night then it's norma...

Carol, its a matter of timing, watch the Solar weather thing and it'll tell you when some particals are coming in, that will cause the lights. You can find referance to it on NASAs page (Solar observation cam)
