Indeed MD .... had it been the other way around and I'd been born in America and moved to the UK, I could have had dual nationality. That's also the case for most if not all European and Commonwealth countries I believe. :-)

Mira Bilis, thanks. My son was born prematurely. I'd been on holiday in France, supposedly a good month before he was due. We got back to the UK only a day before he was born. If he'd been born in France he would have had dual nationality.
