I think it is used mainly for flood control.

MD I just did a quick google of this dam and can't find anything about it being a hydroelectric dam.

One of the dams in my town used to be hydroelectric but the did away the hydroelectric back in the 80's because the up keep cost so much more then the electric output. My town just decided it wasn't worth putting money into something that wasn't making money for them.

N Q, I looked at it the other day and the flow was unbelievably fast and heavy. I suppose it's not surprising after all the bad weather. I wonder if they use it for hydroelectric power as they do in France.

The water level has really come down in the last day. On wed/thur the water was covering the lower 4-5 rungs of the ladders that go up to the platform, yesterday it was still covering all of the cement area below the ladders and today it looks like it's barely trinkling over the dam.

They changed the view of this cam, we can see more of the river. The river is really getting high, wonder if they are having much flooding below the dam.

N Q, I've NEVER seen such volume of water on this cam before. Your place sounds nice. Water is soothing, unless you are needing to spend a penny!  :D

Wow I checked this cam out the other day and there was water going over the dam but nothing like this. Either they open the flood gates wide open or the water is just very high from melting snow.

nellys fan I live in a town with a couple rivers running through it and have a couple dams because of that and I love watching the water flowing over the dams. One of the dams has a really nice walkway over it for optimum viewing :)

there's something strangley fascinating about watching this.

This looks very cold.

I'm trying to decide if it's rain or water from the dam, on the cam. Interesting.
