LOL Homely - I know what you mean about Wallander being depressed ... it kind of goes with the territory in Sweden (and Norway.)  I've never exactly been a happy clappy kind of person myself, so I can relate. ;-)

And it probably doesn't help that Henning Mankell has just this week been diagnosed with cancer - almost like he had a premonition of doom.  :-(

I've now moved on to The Dogs of Rega.

Mira - I've just discovered another series that is very well written. It's yet another by James Patterson, called the Private series. Can't stop listening to it! I'm reading Wallender right now and having trouble sticking with it because he is so depressed in the first book in his series... will try to soldier on, though.

I just borrow them from my local library and download them to my iphone using the OverDrive app. I've kept so busy with the library's cache of books that I have not looked elsewhere... I will try to check LibriVox tonight. Thanks for the tip!

Cool Homely - audiobooks can be so useful. :-)  Do you just borrow them from your library to play in your car or do you download them from the internet as well?  I notice there are plenty of websites where you can download free audiobooks, such as LibriVox, etc.

Hi, Mira - Yes, two quite different worlds! I just finished off Possession on Sunday morning. It was quite long, so I was glad I listened to it rather than trying to read it. I have a very long commute - often spend up to four hours a day on the road, so a nice long audio book is perfect for that. 

The only reason I wished I had Possession in hard copy was to go back and be able to read and decode some of the poetry and other literary symbolism in the book, and to chart out the various relationships in the book. It was full of triangles, and I'd love to diagram them all out on paper and see how they more fully interact. All in all, a terrific read!

I am now enjoying Mankell - reading that one, as my library only had an ebook and not an audiobook. It's delightful, but so far I still preferr good old Inspector Banks! 

I need to go find something good to down load in audio form tonight - my drive is brutal without a book!

Currently reading Possession by A.S. Byatt, a portion of which is set in a manor home overlooking the cliffs in Brittany. This is the scene I imagine in those portions of the novel!

Further to my earlier comments, it was an orangerie (conservatory) that I watched them build a year ago. I googled them and saw that they have live webcam in there at breakfast time. Visitors rave over the fresh baked croissants, bread, home made jams and stuff so I'll have to look in tomorrow.

When I posted that comment on 11th of January the view was of a conservatory being built onto a house in northern France.  Unless it was an extension to the Hotel le Manoir.

They say this is going to be their new breakfast room but I think it would be ideally suited for growing big, green tomatoes!
