I like the look of that ..... nice and deep. Good utensils are a necessity. A while ago I bought a soup maker. So simple to just throw the vegetables in and press a couple of buttons. You can put meat in it but I prefer veg soup. I love the fact that there's no stirring required or faffing of any kind. LOL
It's almost 20 years old and the insert is nonstick metal .... not crock .... so I can sear meat in it and then add the rest of the ingredients. I've yet to see one in the UK that's as versatile as my SEB Versalio. I've always looked after it and the nonstick is still good ..... obviously I never use metal utensils in it. Makes me want to dash into the kitchen and use it. LOL!!!!

It's the simple things in life that we really come to appreciate, MD. :)

Mira .... I've bookmarked that .... some lovely recipes. I love my slow cooker .... It was the only thing I asked for when I left. LOL
Hello, Ladies - By the end of the week, my family pretty much had a chicken mutiny! Won't do that again :-) Thank you so much, Mira, for the recipe. That looks absolutely wonderful! Trying to think of ways to possibly lighten it up - may need to do some extra research! And MD is right, chicken poop smells truly horrible. My husband's got extended family members living in a rural area where there are a lot of chicken farms. The smell will completely gag you on a hot summer day.

Chicken poop gives off an awful stink. :D
Mira Bilis02/17/16 16:37
Indeed MD.
Homely, with so much chicken in your diet maybe you should consider keeping freerange chickens on your land. :)

Just read Homely's meal plan. Drools! :D

You should try it some time Homely, it's great winter comfort food.
::stumbling off to research what the hell Lancashire hotpot might be::

That's quite an impressive menu plan Homely ... I especially approve of the Yorkshire pudding. I think they just celebrated Yorkshire pudding day in Britain ... I will have to counter that with a Lancashire hotpot day so I can celebrate my Lancashire origins, lol. ;)

-20? Uh, nevermind! I did eventually get around to my meal planning - DD and I had a special girls-only Valentines dinner of filet mignon, baked potatoes, and a salad with beets that I roasted and sliced, and she cut into little heart shapes with one of my little cookie cutters. So cute! Last night had Sunday roast with chicken and Yorkshire pudding. Tonight is balsamic marinated boneless thighs with veggies in the same balsamic marinade and herbs. Tomorrow will be a one-dish chicken and pasta casserole with peppers and onions, and then Thursday is chicken cacciatore that I already made in the crockpot. Friday I want a cocktail and don't care what we eat, as long as I'm not cooking it!

Homely02/14/16 12:41
I'm coming to your house for supper!!! In fact, I'm presently avoiding doing my meal planning for the week. OT is so much more fun than making a grocery list!

Hi, Trix - Good to see you! All is well here, but busy. Added the extra layer of the college search to the rest of our usual chaos this year, and it really was a huge timesuck until January. Starting to feel a little teary-eyed every time I think of DS leaving us next year! Hope you are well :-)

I discovered The Rock by Starfrit recently ... it's my new favourite pan, amazing non-stick properties ... http://i5.walmartimages.com/dfw/dce07b8c-edf0/k2-_8f2853bd-c75e-4677-a80b-fd7d2438aa50.v1.jpg
