Ok. Thanks. I asked because years ago when I didn't have much money .... I used to cook a cheap meal of maple peas and bacon. I used to buy them in the petfood shop .... racing pigeons eat them. LOL!!! They needed baking soda.

you can pre soak the beans by adding water to cover,bring to a good boil, then shut heat off and let cool in the water then use to bake.
