2008-03-11 08:54: PINHEAD@71.97.8.241 : People ask,"Why not a bridge?". The sense of community and social interaction I see when people get out of their cars to wait for the ferry. 2008-03-01 17:34: bogins@86.145.210.171 : Boredom has been defined by Fisher in terms of its central psychological processes: “an unpleasant, transient affective state in which the individual feels a pervasive lack of interest in and difficulty concentrating on the current activity.”[3] M. R. Leary and others define boredom similarly, and somewhat more succinctly, as “an affective experience associated with cognitive attentional processes.”[4] These definitions make it clear that boredom arises not for a lack of things to do but the inability to latch onto any specific activity. Nothing engages us, despite an often profound desire for engagement.

There appear to be three general types of boredom, all of which involve problems of engagement of attention. These include times when we are prevented from engaging in something, when we are forced to engage in some unwanted activity or when we are simply unable, for no apparent reason, to maintain engagement in any activity or spectacle.[5]

An important psychological construct is that of boredom proneness; a tendency to experience boredom of all types. This is typically assessed by the Boredom Proneness Scale.[6] Consistent with the definition provided above, recent research has found that boredom proneness is clearly and consistently associated with failures of attention.[7] Boredom and boredom proneness are both theoretically and empirically linked to depression and depressive symptoms.[8][9][10] Nonetheless, boredom proneness has been found to be as strongly correlated with attentional lapses as with depression.[11]

Although boredom is often viewed as a trivial and mild irritant, boredom, and especially boredom proneness has been linked to an amazingly diverse range of psychological, physical, educational, and social problems.

2008-02-29 18:57: Irish man@78.150.186.3 : lets be honest if we did not fuck then no body would be born and we would all be boring bastrds

2008-02-29 12:45: cedric fauntleroy@86.5.15.135 : i say old boy,some rather bad language on here wot ?

2008-02-29 10:03: bogins@86.145.210.171 : F*** is an English word that, as a verb, literally means "to have sexual intercourse with." Its use is generally considered censurable and offensive in most formal circles, but may also be rather common or expected in certain situations or social groups.

It is unclear whether the word has always been considered vulgar, and if not, when it first came to be used to describe (often in an extremely angry, hostile or belligerent manner) negative or unpleasant circumstances or people in an intentionally offensive way, such as in the term "mother******"one of its more common usages in some western parts of the English-speaking world.

2008-02-27 15:07: bogins@86.145.210.171 : Slang is the use of informal words and expressions to describe an object or condition. Slang is vocabulary that is meant to be interpreted quickly but not necessarily literally, as slang words or terms are often a metaphor or an allegory.

Slang is sometimes regional in that it is used only in a particular territory. Slang terms are frequently particular to a certain subculture, such as musicians, and members of minority groups. A slang term could be like calling someone from China and Canada a Chinadian. Nevertheless, usage of slang expressions can spread outside their original arenas to become commonly used, such as "cool" and "jive". While some words eventually lose their status as slang, others continue to be considered as such by most speakers. In spite of this, the process tends to lead the original users to replace the words with other, less-recognized terms to maintain group identity.

2008-02-13 06:42: Sid@124.177.122.105 : Well Big Wallop Thank you very much For the answers . Thanks Mate , I shall call again ,where do you live in this world of ours. ????

2008-02-13 04:38: BigWallop@77.99.97.102 : To answer some of Sid's questions. The building on the right at the shore side is a ticket office and shelter for foot passengers.

Lord Loucan dissapeared after a murder in his London home many years ago. He has never been found, even though he was not actually being implicated in the murder. Read a history book for the full story. The current ferry man is too young to be lord Loucan.

The ferry is run from a marine diesel engine and is quite economical for the trips it does across the lake. The alternative to taking the ferry is a near forty mile drive around the shore, either way you point. So the ferry is a good little shortcut and worth the money.

It is not a broken part of fence you can see. It is an opening in the fence to allow people to walk down to a little jetty for paddle boats etc. Although, further along the shore is a black spot in the road that has caught many a bad driver in its grip. Police divers train along there, and do find a few cars and bikes stuck in the mud.

Hope all this helps a bit. G'Day Mate.

2008-02-11 08:06: sid@124.187.83.101 : So see the bit of broken fence on the left what happened there ???
