Trix ..... in France you can buy mature trees but I don't think I could buy a mature parasol pine in the UK. If I planted one now ...... I'd be long gone before I could harvest some pine nuts. LOL

Trix ...... I didn't know that. Olives have also been eaten and made into oil for thousands of years. I don't have the trees any more ..... they are in France. I would have loved to bring them with me but you know how it is. LOL

I love pine nuts!!! I've spent many hours extracting them from the pine cones. Those cones can be tough and it's surprising how fiddly it is to get the pine nuts. Also ..... it leaves a sort of sooty deposit on your fingers......... but worth it.

MD....did you know the parasol pine have been cultivated for their edible pine nuts since prehistoric times!!! get out there and grab those cones :) will be great in a salad!!

It's pouring with rain and the wind is blowing like crazy. We once had 15 parasol pines and I hated it when the wind blew like this. Those pine cones are quite heavy when they land.
