Trix ..... in France you can buy mature trees but I don't think I could buy a mature parasol pine in the UK. If I planted one now ...... I'd be long gone before I could harvest some pine nuts.  LOL

Trix ...... I didn't know that. Olives have also been eaten and made into oil for thousands of years. I don't have the trees any more ..... they are in France. I would have loved to bring them with me but you know how it is.  LOL

I love pine nuts!!!  I've spent many hours extracting them from the pine cones. Those cones can be tough and it's surprising how fiddly it is to get the pine nuts. Also ..... it leaves a sort of sooty deposit on your fingers......... but worth it.

Hi Mira ....... they have a darned cheek!!!!! It's pouring with rain and the wind is blowing like crazy. We once had 15 parasol pines and I hated it when the wind blew like this. Those pine cones are quite heavy when they land.

I wonder if the lights will stay on beyond the end of January?  I don't blame them for keeping them on as long as they have  ... it certainly brightens up the long winter nights.

You're welcome Trix.  You'd think the people here would know better, having such a large and "critter friendly" back yard ... maybe I should forward the article to them.

Yes ..... it does seem like yesterday but it's been 14 weeks. I could go by train and be there within a few hours. So tempting. That hibiscus tea has decided me ....... I'm gonna go on a diet. That's why I'm eating Christmas cake right now. Can't throw it away ......... can't die...
