Maybe it was cloud or the sun very close to horizon in one direction and therefore the other cam facing more westerly (darker)

That's why I started to do my own in France ...... I never found any there. I could get good eggs at a reasonable price. When I came back to the UK and saw the price of a jar of eggs I thought .... sod that! LOL

Mira .... that sounds lovely. Baking is much better .... breadcrumbs stay where they should be! I love pickled eggs. I do them myself. Trouble is ....... I pickle them in bulk .... and eat them in bulk. Yet strangely enough ..... my cholesterol level is fine.
