I think you are judging the 'Dude" of this castle way too harshly! Maybe he works hard just out of camera range, you know wrapping and packing things, moving boxes.... in other words "manly things!" These "snapshots in time" really don't do him justice and he probably works up ...

My best guess is that it's a stand for those big work lights they put up at night. We'll have to come back after dark and check on it.
