Wyane, the bigest threat here is a quake opens up a large channel for water to enter the lava field, and no big aperature for its escape when it turns to steam, it could , and likely will blow off the mountain top

Trader, you know I was born and grew up about an hours drive from Pgh. Country Girl. Been on the east coast a good number of years, guess here is home now. Really did miss it terribly for a long time though. Honestly glad that missing thing is past.

If this is Kagoshima then it is Isa, which is north of Kagoshima City and east of Izumi. It was renamed from Okuchi a few years ago. Isa is on the island of Kyushu. The Google map is way off and shows Amami Island which is much further south which just never gets snow.
